TCRe expands in Germany. January 2006

Press release – Brussels 23rd January

Trade Credit Re sets up General Agency in Germany

Robert Brixius manages the new Agency. TCRe already present in 5 European countries. New approach of credit risk cover well received.

After a very successful first year of operation, TCRe further expands its international network into Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The company’s operations in this region will be covered out of a General Agency set up in Cologne. It will be managed by Robert Brixius, who joins the company with 14 years of national and international  experience in the insurance of the risk of non-payment of trade debts and receivables. Before joining TCRe, Brixius was Head of the Central Market Office of the credit insurance group Atradius, and previously President of the Gerling Credit Insurance Agency in Chicago.  The General Agency will be responsible for the German, but also for the Austrian and Swiss markets.

Trade Credit Re’s  original approach to credit risk cover is well received

For most companies in the B2B sector, the credit they grant their customers is a major risk: indeed, more than one in five company failures are due to a default on the part of one or several of their customers. Yet traditional forms of coverage of that type of risk are more and more often considered by managers as costly, administratively heavy and – above all –commercially restrictive. In such a context, the originality of TCRe’s offer lies in the fact that, contrarily to classical credit insurance, the insurer grants its cover whilst respecting the insured party's credit management autonomy.

With the backing of blue chip shareholders such as the Belgian Office du Ducroire, the Luxembourg Office du Ducroire, the Compagnie du Bois Sauvage and the international banking group Fortis, Trade Credit Re had started its activities in Belgium, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, France and Italy with undeniable success. Indeed, in its first year of operation, the specialised insurer was able to close business of more than 30 million euros, proving the relevance of the solutions he offers in the European market.

A next step to give even better service to international clients

The new activity in Germany, Austria and Switzerland is the next step of TCRe to create an international network in the most important European economies and to remain close to the insured. Robert Brixius, who is entrusted with the management of TCRe’s activities in that region, will operate out of a General Agency set up in Cologne. The newly hired manager, who joins the company with 14 years of management experience in the credit insurance and receivables management industry, will take care, on behalf of the company, of brokers, clients

and other stakeholders. He thus reinforces a specialised team whose unique complementarity of skills in specialised insurance and reinsurance give TCRe exclusive expertise in this particular field.

“This further international expansion of the company into these important European economies is a crucial step to strengthen TCRe’s leading position as specialised insurer of credit risks who grants full credit management autonomy to the insured”, Brixius commented. “ It will allow to give an even better service to our international clients.”
